Woolwich Ferry Docking System – CE Marking Review

Woolwich Ferry Docking System – CE Marking Review

About the project

DCL was engaged to review the CE Compliance of the turnkey magnetic docking system to be installed for the new Woolwich Ferry. This involved a full review of all relevant CE Marking Directives: Machinery 2006/42/EC, Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU, Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EU. The review of the design focused on the safety measures taken to ensure all hazards had been mitigated as well as the documentation to be provided, in particular the Operating & Maintenance Instructions to allow safe operation.

The project also involved a review of the reliability of the system and maintenance requirements, given its installation in a harsh environment and design life of 30 years.
